Green Sea Turtle rescue! Thanks to local experts for outstanding team work! ?We are BEYOND excited to share this rescue story with you! ??? Yesterday morning, Matt Bennett (aka our sea turtle SUPERHERO! ?) reported a sighting of a green …sea turtle that was entangled in a buoy as well as an anchor! ?? (yes, you read that right ?) This was preventing the turtle from being able to dive down, and it was also struggling to surface for air. After being instructed by FWC, Matt kept eyes on the turtle until help arrived from multiple local agencies. Representatives from South Walton Turtle Watch, Gulfarium CARE Center and South Walton Fire District Lifeguards worked together as a team to disentangle the turtle from the anchor and bring it to shore so that it can be assessed by the veterinary team at Gulfarium. The buoy was not immediately removed due to the severity of the entanglement, and was left for proper removal by veterinary staff. After transportation to the CARE Center by SWTW staff, this turtle is now receiving the medical treatment it desperately needed! We cannot thank everyone involved in this rescue enough! South Walton Fire Department Lifeguards were instrumental in the safety and success of this mission, as well as the amazing representatives from Gulfarium CARE Center, and of course our sea turtle superhero Matt Bennett ???
