Tentative Millage and Fire Assessment Rates Set for FY 2021-22

The Fort Walton Beach City Council held a Budget Policy Meeting on June 29, 2021. Below are actions taken by the council at the meeting. Video of the meeting and details about these items can be found here.

1. Adopted (4-2) the Fire Protection Services Assessment Rates (cannot exceed) for FY 2021-22:
? Residential Property: $85.00
? Commercial Property: $0.08/sq. ft.
? Industrial/Warehouse: $0.02/sq. ft.
? Institutional: $0.00 (exempt)

2. Adopted (5-1) the FY 2021-22 Tentative Millage rate at 5.3293 mills (cannot exceed). This is the same rate as FY 2020-21.
Upcoming FY 2021-22 Budget Workshop and Budget Hearing dates:
? Budget Workshop: August 3, 2021, at 5:30 p.m.
? Budget Hearing #1: September 8, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.
? Budget Hearing #2: September 27, 2021, at 5:30 p.m.

The Fire Protection Services Assessment Rates and the tentative millage rate will appear in the TRIM notice mailed by the Okaloosa County Property Appraiser in August 2021. These rates are tentative and cannot be exceeded for FY 2021-22.
