Our teams have been keeping very busy monitoring and excavating nests as we did not have… any new nests this week. BUT we have FIVE #Loggerhead excavation results we can’t wait to share ??? Nest #34 ?89 Hatched ?3 Whole ?92 Total ?97% SUCCESS Nest #35 ?94 Hatched ?10 Whole ?1 Dead Pipped (halfway out of its shell) ?3 Live in the Nest (Hatched data) ?105 Total ?90% SUCCESS Nest #36 ?130 Whole (Infertile) ?0% SUCCESS **Unfortunately this happens occasionally. There were no external factors found that may have contributed to this. The good news is that loggerhead sea turtles can lay up to 6 nests per season. We are hopeful her other nests had some success!** Nest #37 ?138 Hatched ?31 Whole ?2 Dead in Nest (Hatched data) ?4 Live in Nest (Hatched data) ?169 Total ?80% SUCCESS Nest #38 ?80 Hatched ?5 Whole ?85 Total ?94% SUCCESS So far we have had 3,359 hatchlings produced from 38 nests…we are so happy!! We currently still have 25 nests incubating throughout the county.
