Sea Turtle Release! Thursday Sep 8 @ 10am Topsail Hill Preserve State ParkJoin us TOMORROW Thursday, September 8th at 10am!!! Carole, a large adult female loggerhead, weighing 215lbs, came to the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center on July 5th,… 2022. She was trailing two fishing poles as well as 5.5lbs of collected fishing debris (weights, fishing line, hooks, sun glasses, and a partial tire). After her initial exam, all fishing line was removed and Carole was started on a treatment plan including antibiotics, vitamins, fluids, and an anti-inflammatory medicine to help reduce the swelling in her right front flipper. The C.A.R.E. Center veterinary team monitored Carole closely and after two months of rest and recovery, along with a clean bill of health, Carole is ready to head back into the Gulf of Mexico! Topsail Hill Preserve State Park opens at 8am and offers a tram service from the parking lot down to the beach. The release will start promptly at 10am, so we do recommend arriving early to allow enough time to make it to the release location.
